Welcome to the Colorful World of KillerPumpkins!

KillerPumpkins is a personal venture of mine that started back in my early adolescence. Of all my cherished boyhood memories, what I loved most about Halloween was the jack-o-lantern. I can recall the excitement within as my family and I would pack up the car and make the yearly drive to a pumpkin patch with the crucial goal of picking out the perfect pumpkin. As I close my eyes many years later I can hear the laughter as we carved it’s face and that first smell of pumpkin that filled my senses as I scooped out its seeds. When the carving was finally completed I can remember standing there mesmerized by the candle that flickered inside its shell. I believed that it was here where Halloween existed and it wasn’t until the candle was lit that an evil was born within it’s crypt. I stood there watching the ambient light that radiated from inside the jack-o-lantern as it cast eerie shadows throughout the room and as it triggered my imagination, I would fantasize that the pumpkin was alive and now possessed a special spirit.

The inspiration behind the artwork that I’ve created stems from these fond childhood memories and of the smells and colors that surround Halloween. I enjoy depicting autumn back east and in the heartland of the mid-west where nature is busy displaying a brilliant, fiery show as the leaves are turning colors and cool breezes are signaling that winter is on it’s way. My artwork takes you back in time before all the technologies and booming commercialism that is now Halloween, when decorations were limited to a simple jack-o-lantern, a bale of hay and a few stalks of corn. To a time when costumes were made with cardboard and glitter or maybe your mom’s old sheets. So with this, I would like to welcome you to my world ... the world of KillerPumpkins!
